As an organisation we support flexible working. This role allows hybrid working (a mix of home and office working) and a working pattern suitable for you can be discussed on appointment if you are successful.
You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home, of which you will be required to attend for regular meetings, training and for one-to-one meetings with your manager. These will be planned in advance.
Job Description
The post holder carries out the Flood and Coastal Risk Asset Inspection programme, making judgements on the condition against recognised standards.
Responsibilities
You will:
- Plan and deliver risk-based inspections of flood risk assets in accordance with current standards.
- Make accurate assessments of asset condition against standards and decide on the condition rating, recording your decision in the AMX database.
- Undertake various inspections (including Asset, Public Safety Risk Assessments and Bridge Inspections) and input quality data from inspections into appropriate databases and systems to ensure that assets are maintained to the required performance standards.
- Identify issues and problems in a timely way and propose efficient and programmed solutions.
- Assist in the development and management of a programme of work in Asset System Management that contributes to the delivery of Directorate targets.
- Work in collaboration with other FRM teams and Risk Management Authorities to achieve targets and continuity of asset performance.
- Assist in maintaining the National Flood Risk Asset Management System, AMX and associated flood risk data.
- Incident Response requirements: Required to take part in incident response activities
Qualifications, experience and knowledge
Knowledge and experience of the following:
- Qualifications; 5 GCSE’s or equivalent with Maths and English essential and qualifications in a scientific or engineering subject. Hold or be willing to work towards T98 Visual Asset Inspector Certificate.
- Knowledge of flood risk management activities and broad understanding of wider approaches to river and coastal asset management.
- Good knowledge of ICT including Microsoft Office, databases and web- based data systems.
- Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety best practice in a field-based environment and ability to work safely and effectively on own initiative and in line with NRW policy and standards.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Participation in the NRW’s incident response duty roster.
Welsh language requirements:
Essential: Level 1 – Able to pronounce Welsh and use basic phrases
