SoNaRR interim report 2019: Template for compiling the natural resources inventory

We'll use the following template to describe the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to achieving the sustainable management of natural resources.

It will be a summary of the findings of the SoNaRR assessment.

There may be one table for each of the eight ecosystems and seven cross-cutting themes.

The Natural Resource Inventory Template describes the 4 measures of SMNR and identifies the relevant attributes for each of the measures. Measure 1 – Natural Resources are safeguarded and enhanced - Is assessed by the extent and condition of Natural Resources within an Ecosystem. Measure 2 – Ecosystems are resilient to expected and unforeseen change – is assessed by the for attributes of resilience – Extent, condition, connectivity and diversity Measure 3 – Healthy places for people, protected from environmental risks – is assessed by the regulating services and cultural services provided Measure 4 – A circular economy with more efficient use of natural resources – is assessed by resource use efficiency and provisioning services provided by an ecosystem The inventory is compiled by carrying out a SWOT analysis by looking at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to achieving the sustainable management of natural resources and identifying suitable metrics, qualitative or quantitative, to describe this.
