How Wrexham Woodland Connections Week helps connect people and nature

Wrexham Woodland Connections Week returns from 13 to 21 June 2026, bringing together partners from across the county to celebrate the many benefits of trees and woodlands.

Now in its fourth year, the initiative, led by the Wrexham Forest Partnership, will focus on the theme of ‘Accessibility for All’, highlighting the importance of ensuring everyone can experience and enjoy local green spaces and woodlands.

The week will begin with a launch event on Saturday 13 June at Alyn Waters Country Park, setting the tone for a programme of activities delivered by organisations across the partnership. Events throughout the week will showcase how woodlands support health and wellbeing, provide vital habitats for wildlife, and help build a greener future for the next generation in Wrexham.

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) plays a key role within the partnership, supporting coordination and connecting partners with valuable expertise, resources and skills. Through this collaboration, we help ensure that local action aligns with wider environmental priorities, strengthening efforts to protect and enhance Wales’ natural environment.

Woodland Connections Week is about far more than a programme of events. It reflects a shared commitment to working together to maximise the benefits that trees bring to communities.

Woodlands improve mental and physical wellbeing, create spaces for people to connect with nature, and enhance biodiversity by linking habitats across the landscape. They also play an increasingly important role in helping Wales respond to the challenges of climate change, from carbon capture to improving resilience against extreme weather.

By focusing on accessibility this year, the partnership is recognising that these benefits must be available to everyone. Ensuring equal access to high-quality green spaces supports healthier, more inclusive communities while contributing to Wales’ wider environmental and wellbeing goals.

Wrexham Woodland Connections Week is an opportunity to celebrate what has already been achieved and to inspire continued action. By working together, partners can strengthen connections between people, nature and place – helping to build a greener, healthier and more resilient Wrexham for the future.
