Consultation begins on 2 Sisters environmental permit application

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is inviting the public to comment on a permit variation application submitted by 2 Sisters Food Group Limited for its poultry processing facility in Sandycroft, Flintshire.

The application seeks changes to the site's existing environmental permit, including an increase in the number of birds processed from 134,000 to 172,000 birds per day and an increase in operating days from six to seven days per week.

The application also includes a request to permit the operation of a chiller unit that has been installed on site to replace the previous unit.

NRW will undertake a detailed assessment of the application to determine whether the proposed changes can be made while continuing to protect people and the environment.

As part of the permitting process, NRW is launching a public consultation to provide individuals, businesses and community groups with an opportunity to review the application and submit comments.

The consultation will run from 10 September until 8 October 2026.

Members of the public can view the application documents and submit their comments online.

All relevant representations received during the consultation period will be considered as part of NRW's determination of the application.
