National Access Forum for Wales

NAFW meets regularly to discuss access issues of national significance, and to advise Natural Resources Wales and the Welsh Government

The National Access Forum for Wales' (NAFW) primary purposes are to help Natural Resources Wales and the Welsh Government to:

  • improve the quality and extent of access to the countryside and coasts of Wales
  • extend the opportunities for enjoyment and responsible outdoor recreation to all

In pursuing this goal, the NAFW recognises the close inter-relationship that exists between access management and the overall environmental, economic, social and cultural well being of our rural communities.

The NAFW has nearly 40 member organisations representing a wide range of interests which includes:

  • representatives of landowners and managers
  • countryside access user groups
  • public bodies and
  • voluntary sector organisations

Though it has no legal status, the level and range of representation of its members means it can influence policy development.

Meeting dates

Natural Resources Wales administers and chairs the Forum and all meetings are open to the public:

  • 30 June 2020 - meeting cancelled - written contributions will be issued nearer the time
  • 3 November 2020
